
Madison Ellingsworth is a writer living in Portland, Maine. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Southern Maine in December 2021. In Spring 2025, Madison attended the Wigtown School of Writing in Wigtown, Scotland.
Madison is a Best of the Net 2026 nominee and a finalist in the 2025 Lucky Jefferson Poetry and Prose Contest. In 2025, Two of Madison’s short stories—”Pig’s Sister” and “Bait”—were included in a short story anthology published by Littoral Books, titled Positivity Bias: Maine Writers, Defiantly Happy Endings. In 2024, Madison was the Joy of the Pen Nonfiction Honorable Mention.
Madison’s stories have been previously published in dozens of magazines and journals, including Fractured Lit, Lunch Ticket, Bending Genres, Apple Valley Review, and Flash Fiction Online. She has work forthcoming in 2026 in West Trade Review.
As an editor, Madison has worked for NonBinary Review, Kitchen Table Quarterly, and Littoral Books. She currently writes audiobook reviews for Kirkus Reviews (formerly AudioFile Magazine). When she is not typing at her computer, Madison works as a ceramicist, enjoys being active outside, and travels abroad.
