Madison Ellingsworth is a writer living in Portland, Maine. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Southern Maine in December 2021. In Spring 2025, Madison attended the Wigtown School of Writing in Wigtown, Scotland.
Madison is a Maine Literary Awards Winner and a Best of the Net nominee. Her debut chapbook, “Seven Stories,” was published by Sand and Gravel Press in March 2026. She was a finalist in the 2025 Lucky Jefferson Poetry and Prose Contest, and two of Madison’s short stories—”Pig’s Sister” and “Bait”—were included in a short story anthology published by Littoral Books in 2025, titled Positivity Bias: Maine Writers, Defiantly Happy Endings. In 2024, Madison was the Joy of the Pen Nonfiction Honorable Mention.
Madison’s stories have been published in dozens of magazines and journals, including Fractured Lit, West Trade Review, Lunch Ticket, Bending Genres, Apple Valley Review, and Flash Fiction Online. She has work forthcoming in Salt Hill Journal, Turn&Work, FlashFlood Journal, and Zooscape.
As an editor, Madison has worked for NonBinary Review, Kitchen Table Quarterly, and Littoral Books. She currently writes audiobook reviews for Kirkus Reviews (formerly AudioFile Magazine). When she is not typing at her computer, Madison can be found in the ceramics studio, out on the trails, and traveling abroad.
